  • Awarded PhD in Multimedia and Communications by Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in 2017 (Cum Laude) with International mention (visiting scholarship, 6 months, Clinical Image Guidance Laboratory, Boston, USA). Thesis done at Laboratorio de Imagen Médica (Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón, HGUGM) that focused on updating Intraoperative Electron Radiation Therapy (IOERT) dose distributions using a multi-camera optical tracking system and intraoperative images acquired with computed tomography (CT) technologies. Research done with collaboration of Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Clínica La Luz, Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal and companies (GMV, Medtronic, NeuroLogica and CIRS), and with travel grant of Madrid-MIT M+Vision Consortium to acquire CT studies in NeuroLogica (USA). At HGUGM (2006-2017), her research also included treatment guidance with tracking systems, 3D scanners and 3D printing, surgical planning for oculomotor dysfunctions, software for commercial small-animal PET (position emission tomography)/CT scanners (Sedecal), and statistical parametric mapping (SPM) analysis (neuroimaging). This research group has a strong relationship with physicians at HGUGM and industry.

Her postdoctoral position at Institute for Robotics and Cognitive Systems (University of Lübeck, Germany, 2018-2020) focused on guiding endovascular aortic repair procedures while reducing radiation exposure (Nav EVAR project) by means of tracking systems (specifically, an electromagnetic tracking system and fibre Bragg gratings) and augmented reality. After that, she worked in GMV Soluciones Globales Internet, S.A.U company (2021-2022). Her research was related to guide low-kV X-ray Introperative Radiation Therapy (IORT) with optical tracking systems. Currently, she collaborates with this company and University Medical Center Mannheim (Germany) to continue that research. In September 2022, she started at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos as an assistant professor.

Her research interests cover areas such as image-guided procedures, tracking systems, augmented reality, 3D scanners, 3D printing, medical image segmentation, quantification, multimodal registration and statistical analysis in preclinical and clinical (such as radiotherapy) environments.
