Información general
Presentación
  • I disserted my PhD in Biology in 2009 at the URJC with the maximum qualification and the extraordinary prize. As a result I published 7 papers which are basic for the identification of species of the family Verrucariaceae and to understand lichen evolution. My first postdoctoral grant in Ecuador (UTPL) was centered in the study of lichen diversity and ecology training students in species identification, field inventories, etc. There, I supervised 3 MsC and 2 PhD students (one more in process) with a number of SCI publications in tropical community ecology. These students have continued with these topics and supervised further students. After my second postdoctoral stay (2 years in Sweden) I was granted by the Swedish Government to develop 3 projects as PI. In these projects I formed an international team focused on the study of lichen evolution and photobiont diversity in the Lichinomycetes. In 2012, I joined the URJC Área de Biodiversidad y Conservación. My research is centered in taxonomy, phylogeny and evolution of liquenized fungi. I am also interested in population genetics, specifically in threatened lichen species. I have published 57 papers and several chapters in general lichen flora books (Nordic Lichen Flora and British and Irish Lichens). My scientific results have been also published in non SCI journals (15 papers). Up to date, my studies have received >3000 citations, h-index 22. I have ca. 80 contributions to national and international congresses (56% oral, 42% international and 71% first author or senior), being 3 of them as invited speaker and 3 invited seminars at different European Universities (Uppsala, Hamburg, Ankara). I have been reviewer for a number of publications in different journals, research projects or theses. I have collaborated in 12 competitive research projects funded by different entities, in 2 Marie Curie Actions and in 2 scientific Networks. I have successfully supervised 10 BsC and 7 MsC projects. I am involved in outreach activities with the publication of my results in several popular science journals and transmitting science in schools and local societies. I am also collaborating in the evaluation for the Spanish Red List of Lichens. I am the Secretary of the Spanish Lichen Society (SEL) and member of the board of the Iberian Mycological Society (SIM). Within my teaching activity, I accumulate more than 1400 hours and I have been granted with an educational innovation project (2020, URJC).
