  • Doctora en Derechos Humanos (UC3M) y Máster en Derecho de la Unión Europea (Universidad Libre de Bruselas). Profesora Titular de Derecho Internacional Público y RRII. Junto con temáticas específicamente jurídicas, que giran alrededor del Derecho Internacional de la Cultura y los Derechos Humanos, con un enfoque especial en la relación cultura- comercio, la diversidad cultural (y sus relaciones con la biodiversidad, el medio ambiente, el desarrollo sostenible y el entorno digital), Beatriz se interesa por los vínculos entre el Derecho Internacional y otras Ciencias Sociales, las Humanidades y las Artes, así como en la investigación aplicada con un enfoque particular en los derechos humanos, especialmente en los derechos culturales. Le apasiona acercar los conceptos y las posibilidades jurídicas de los derechos culturales y la diversidad cultural a no juristas y participa en esta línea en diversos talleres de formación para artistas y gestores culturales, y en talleres para la infancia. 

    Ha sido investigadora invitada del Instituto Max Planck de Antropología Social ¿Departamento de Derecho y Cultura  (Halle) investigadora visitante en el Instituto de Derecho Internacional Público y Derecho Europeo (Universidad de Göttingen), del Centro de Ética de la Universidad de Toronto y del Centro de Estudios Socio-Legales (Universidad de Oxford), así como fellow del Käte Hamburger Center for Advanced Study in the Humanities "Law as Culture" ((Universidad de Bonn). Es miembro del Observatorio de Diversidad y Derechos Culturales (Universidad de Friburgo), del Consejo Asesor del Observatorio de Cultura y Comunicación de la Fundación Alternativas y del Grupo de grupo de trabajo sobre cultura y desarrollo sostenible (REDS). Entre sus publicaciones recientes se encuentra la coedición, junto con L. Lixinski y A. Jakuwovski de "15 Years of the UNESCO Diversity of Cultural Expressions Convention: Actors, Processes and Impact "(Hart Publishing, 2023).   Es cofundadora y miembro del comité coordinador del Grupo de Interés de Derecho Internacional de la Cultura(Sociedad Europea de Derecho Internacional).

    Beatriz Barreiro Carril holds a PhD in Human Rights (Universidad Carlos III, Madrid) and a Master in European Union Law (Université Libre de Bruxelles). Beatriz is Professor of International Public Law at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. She works on specific legal topics, which revolve around International Cultural Law, and Human Rights with a special focus on the culture-trade relationship, cultural diversity (and its relationship with biodiversity, the environment and sustainable development, and digitalisation). Besides, Beatriz is interested in interdisciplinary research, that includes the links between International Law and other Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts, as well as in applied research with a particular focus on human rights, especially cultural rights. She is passionate about bringing the legal concepts and possibilities of cultural rights and cultural diversity to non-lawyers and participates in various training workshops for artists and cultural managers, and in workshops on cultural rights for children. 

    She has been a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology - Department of Law and Culture - in Halle, a visiting researcher at the Institute for Public International Law and European Law (University of Göttingen), the Centre for Ethics at the University of Toronto and the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies (University of Oxford), as well as a fellow at the Käte Hamburger Center for Advanced Study in the Humanities "Law as Culture". She is a member of the Observatory of Diversity and Cultural Rights (University of Fribourg), of the Advisory Board of the Observatory of Culture and Communication of the Fundación Alternativas and of the Working Group on Culture and Sustainable Development (REDS
