  • I started my research career in 2000 through a collaboration contract with de Castilla-La Mancha University about synthesis of catalysts for hydrodesulfurization chemical process from diesel fuel and fuel oils. In the period 2001-2006, I obtained a pre-doctoral fellowship from MCYT (FPI-Program) in the group of Prof. J. Martínez-Salazar (department of Macromolecular Physics) at IEM/CSIC. There, I developed my thesis in synthesis and characterization of ethylene/styrene using different single site catalysts as available alternative to replace the use of PVC. I continued my work on the synthesis and characterization of polar copolymers to apply as compatibilizing agents in compound materials based on recycled ground tire rubber; and on the preparation of binary or ternary polyolefin blends to the elimination of extrudate distortion in polymers processing.  In 2007-2012, I obtained a post-doctoral contract under a project with Repsol, and later I awarded a post-doctoral competitive Juan de la Cierva contract track to work at URJC. I joined the Polymer Technology Laboratory, led by the group Prof. R.A. García-Muñoz. I worked on a novel research line for the challenge of characterize series of polypropylenes with complex chemical microstructure, such as commercial polypropylene copolymers, obtained via chemical reactor, applying an advanced form of characterization methods: chemical microstructure by FTIR, NMR and GPS, fractionation, thermal properties in solid and liquid state (DSC, XTAF-TREF), NMR in solid state, microscopies (TEM, SEM), impact strength, etc. At that time, I obtained a postdoctoral fellowship, José Castillejo Program, from Ministry of Education to work on the group of Dr. Rüdiger Berger at Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research. There, I acquired knowledge on SPM to describe quantitatively the interfacial phenomena in a series of polypropylenes copolymers. This research was at that point a European target to find new materials cheaper with a improve thermal and impact properties. Since 2013, I have carried out my lecture and research activities at Chemical and Environmental Engineering group at URJC. During this time, I have been participating in the various research projects and contracts. I joined a research line about synthesis of heterophasic polypropylenes (HPPs). This line I allowed understand not only the experimental conditions influence on the heterogeneous composition in propylene homopolymer but also in HPPs. This study was oriented to improve impact properties through the control of the different macromolecular chains synthesized, their proportion, and the compatibility between main components. I also have participated in some research projects with Repsol company based on monitoring by SEM and TEM of reactions among thermoplastic elastomers and technical plastics with or without compatibilizing agent. Results derived from these studies were applied to the industrial process. Since 2018, I have been participating in two contracts obtained by the Chemical and Environmental Engineering group and a research project obtained by the group Biophym (IEM-CSIC) whom I collaborate, all of them within the framework of the environmental and social sustainability.
