  • Daniel Puyol began his research career in 2002 at the University Autonoma of Madrid. He has worked in the Environmental Biotechnology field for around 20 years. His main contributions are related with anaerobic bioremediation of wastewater and resource recovery from organic waste sources. He obtained his Bachelor on Environmental Sciences in 2003, his MD in 2006, and his PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2010, all of them at the University Autonoma of Madrid. He was working as postdoctoral researcher in the Unviersity of Arizona (group of Dr. Jim A. Field and Dr. Reyes Sierra-Alvarez) for two years and in the University of Queensland (group of Dr. Damien J. Batstone) for one year. Currently, he is Senior Researcher in the University Rey Juan Carlos, where he is leading a research line on the use of purple phototrophic bacteria for resource recovery from organic waste and wastewater.
He has published over 60 papers in journals related with environmental technology, microbiology and biotechnology. He has also participated in more than 55 international conferences and congresses.
