  • Actualmente mi área de estudio se centra en la Ecología Evolutiva y la Ecofisiología animal. Me interesa comprender las causas próximas y últimas del comportamiento, particularmente, la función y evolución de las señales sociales y los mecanismos fisiológicos implicados en su producción y mantenimiento.  

    Realicé mis estudios de Biología en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). En 2002 obtuve una beca para realizar el doctorado en Comportamiento Animal en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Me incorporé al Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (MNCN) donde desarrollé mi tesis doctoral titulada Efectos maternos en el estornino negro: coloración de huevos y asignación de andrógenos.  Entre 2008 y 2014 disfruté de tres estancias posdoctorales en México, dos de ellas en el Instituto de Ecología de la UNAM y la tercera en el Centro Tlaxcala de Biología de la Conducta de la Universidad Autónoma de Tlaxcala. Durante estas estancias, además de realizar labor docente en grado y posgrado, profundicé en temas relacionados con la evolución y función de los caracteres coloridos en aves y en los compromisos evolutivos a nivel fisiológico de la coloración. Los tres proyectos que desarrollé fueron 
    Estudio del mantenimiento del color del plumaje en el pinzón mexicano Carpodacus mexicanusEvolución del dimorfismo sexual en el bobo café Sula leucogaster y Más allá del color: Compromisos evolutivos entre mecanismos fisiológicos y expresión de ornamentos en aves.  Entre 2015 y 2018 trabajé en el MNCN con dos contratos asociados a los proyectos El alimento como vector de parásitos: implicaciones en la dinámica y conservación de las poblaciones de aves y El papel del olfato en las relaciones sociales de las aves, ambos liderados por investigadores del MNCN. En septiembre de 2018 me incorporé a la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos como profesora en el área de zoología.
