Presentación

  • Sergio Álvarez Ortega desarrolla su actividad docente e investigadora en el área de Zoología del Departamento de Biología y Geología, Física y Química Inorgánica en la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. Colabora, además, de manera activa en diversos proyectos de investigación con otras instituciones científicas y Universidades como el Departamento de Alimentos y Agricultura de California, la Universidad de Florida, el Instituto de Agricultura Sostenible-CSIC, y el Instituto de Ciencias de la Vid y el Vino-CSIC. Es Doctor (octubre de 2012) y Licenciado (junio de 2007) en Biología por la Universidad de Jaén.

    Su experiencia profesional viene avalada por más de 10 años de experiencia en el área de investigación de la Nematología en organizaciones públicas como la Universidad de Jaén (UJA), el Departamento de Alimentos y Agricultura de California (CDFA) o la Universidad Estatal de Michigan (MSU).  

    Sus líneas de investigación son el estudio de la diversidad, sistemática y filogenia de nematodos edáficos. Su actividad científica le ha permitido participar como investigador en varios proyectos de carácter internacional y nacional. Ha publicado más de 50 artículos científicos en revistas internacionales incluidas en el Journal Citation Reports (JCR).
