Presentación

  • PhD in Mathematics (UCM'97). Since 2016, Professor in Statistics and Operational Research. His research is focussed on Mathematical Optimization as a basic discipline for modeling and solving problems in logistics and industrial engineering. In his more than 25 years of research experience, the following contributions can be highlighted.
    • BFC: Branch and Fix Coordination: general scheme for the resolution of Stochastic Optimization problems. 
    • Air traffic flow management and conflict detection and resolution. 
    • Risk management, with contributions on the measurement and management of risk in industrial planning problems in multi-stage problems. 
    He has participated in several research projects (in six, granted by the National R&D Plan, as Principal Researcher, without interruption since 2004). He has also participated in research contracts with companies (as responsible researcher he has managed a budget of more than 800,000 euros) and in training activities in companies (Ciemat 2002, Idom 2003, GMV 2008 and Aesa 2012).

    He has more than 45 articles published in JCR journals, most of them in Q1 journals, and several chapters in books edited Springer, Wiley and Mathematical Programming Society. Some of the articles have several hundreds citations and have been cited in prestigious publications (Handbooks of Operations Research, Handbooks of Discrete Mathematics, Handbooks of Power Systems) and doctoral theses (Duisburd-Essen, Brunel, Norway, Texas, Basque Country, Chile, etc.). He has more than two hundred presentations at international conferences and has given lectures at the Universities of Edinburgh, Chile, Humboldt, Seville and the Polytechnic University of Barcelona, among others.

    He has supervised seven doctoral theses in fields such as stochastic optimization, air traffic management, air traffic conflict detection and resolution, and optimization models for energy planning, which have produced numerous scientific publications. 

    He has actively participated in the organization of high-level scientific events and conferences. Specifically, president of the organizing committee in Applied Mathematical Modeling 2006, International Workshop in Op. Research 2008, National Statistics Congress and IO 2012, Workshop on Combinatorial Op., Routing and Location 2015 and Computational Management Science 2016.

    President os ALIO (Ibero-Latinoamerican Association of Operations Reserarch) from January 2022.
