Presentación
  • I successfully obtained my Bachelor¿s degree in Biology at the King Juan Carlos University (URJC) (Madrid, 2013-2017) and my Master¿s degree in Inland Water Quality Assessment at the Autonomous University of Madrid (2018-2019). The findings of my Bachelor¿s thesis, which evaluated the impact of insecticides on Mediterranean aquatic invertebrates, were published in a scientific peer-review journal. During my Master¿s, I received an Eramus+ fellowship to conduct my final Master¿s thesis at the South-Eastern Norway University where I investigated the occurrence and composition of microplastics in freshwater ecosystems. In addition, on 2018, I was awarded with a research stay at the Centre National De La Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and Marine Biodiversity Exploitation and Conservation (MARBEC. Sète, France). This internship was funded by the European AQUACOSM Transnational Access project with the objective to participate in a mesocosms experiment aimed at assessing the effects of warming on Mediterranean plankton communities.
Between 2020-2023, I was employed by the IMDEA Water Institute in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid, Spain) as research assistant for the Ecotoxicology group. I gave support and assistance to the coordination of several meso- and microcosms experiments addressing the impact of micropollutants and climate change in aquatic ecosystems. I attended different international/national conferences where I presented my research, and I led and participated in three scientific publications. Afterwards, I briefly worked for the Spanish Ministry of Health in the Water Quality and Environmental Risks area, offering technical support and advice on water quality legislation to citizens, companies, and regional administration.
Currently, I am developing my PhD at the Department of Biology and Geology, Physics, and Inorganic Chemistry at URJC. This thesis is linked to the FRESCO (funded by the Community of Madrid) and the European FRESHRESTORE projects, and directed by Dr. Javier Sánchez-Hernández and Dr. Ignasi Arranz. My thesis focuses on trophic ecology and biotic responses in lake ecosystems as response to global change.
