Ana obtuvo el doctorado en Transtional Justice Institute (Universidad de Ulster). Después, realizó investigación post-doctoral para la Universidad de Durham, y ha sido profesora en la UNIR.
Su especialidad es el género, conflicto y derecho internacional.
Además de su perfil académico, Ana ha trabajado para distintas organizaciones internacionales y no gubernamentales, incluyendo, Amnistía internacional, ECPAT International, EU Genocide Network, y ha sido consultora para Women, Peace and Security Helpdesk.
