  • Sofía Bayona es Doctora en Informática por la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. Desde 2003 trabaja allí, actualmente como Profesora Titular de Universidad dentro del grupo de investigación de Visualization and Graphics Lab (https://vg-lab.es/). Realizó estancias de investigación en el INRIA Rhone-Alpes (France) en 2003 y en el Imperial College London en 2009-2010, cuando le fue concedida una FP7 Marie Curie Intra European Fellow (grant PIEF-GA-2009-236642). Participa como revisora en varias revistas y congresos internacionales de calidad organizados por entidades de prestigio, como IEEE. Ha participado en más de 20 proyectos de investigación, tanto de ámbito local, como regional, nacional y europeo, tanto en convocatorias públicas como financiados a través de convenios al amparo del artículo 83 de la LOU. Algunos de sus proyectos más relevantes son el proyecto europeo FP7-ICT 610425 RASimAs project (Regional Anaesthesia Simulator and Assistant), el proyecto Cajal Blue Brain (rama española del proyecto Blue Brain puesto en marcha por el EPFL de Suiza) o el proyecto Human Brain Project (FET Flagship HBP604102). Ha sido la Coordinadora del Grado en Ingeniería de Computadores desde el 2012 hasta el 2020 y Subdirectora de Promoción e Internacionalización de la Escuela de Másteres Oficiales desde el 2020 hasta junio de 2022. Posee dos sexenios de investigación, 3 quinquenios, 5 tramos DOCENTIA, tres de ellos con calificación de EXCELENTE y ha realizado diversas publicaciones nacionales e internacionales en conferencias y revistas, además de 3 patentes, una de ellas (simulador artroscópico) en explotación internacional en Europa, Asia y EEUU. Sus intereses de investigación son: Realidad Virtual, Visualización, Simulación y Educación

    Sofía Bayona (PhD in Computer Science) works since 2003 at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, currently as Profesor Titular de Universidad within the Visualization and Graphics Lab (    https://vg-lab.es/) research group. She did research stays at INRIA Rhone-Alpes (France) in 2003 and at Imperial College London in 2009-2010, when she was awarded a FP7 Marie Curie Intra European Fellow (grant PIEF-GA-2009-236642). She has participated in more than 20 national and international research projects, some in competitive public calls and others under funding agreements under Article 83 of the LOU. Some relevant projects are RASimAs project (Regional Anaesthesia Simulator and Assistant), the Cajal Blue Brain project (Spanish branch of the Blue Brain project launched by the EPFL of Switzerland) or the scale of the Human Brain Project (FET Flagship HBP604102). She has been the Coordinator of the Computer Engineering Degree from 2012 to 2020 and Assistant Director of Promotion and Internationalization of the School of Official Masters (2020-2022). She has two six-year research periods, 3 five-year teaching periods, 5 DOCENTIA periods, three of them with EXCELLENT rating, and has several national and international publications in conferences and journals, in addition to 3 patents, one of them (arthroscopic simulator) in international exploitation in Europe, Asia and USA. Her research interests are: Virtual Reality, Visualization, Simulation and Education.
