Presentación
  • Since September, 2018, I work part-time as Profesor Asociado (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Applied Economics both at the Faculty of Political Sciences and Sociology of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and at the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC).

In both universities I teach courses in English in Bachelors of Economics and Business Administration: Industrial &  Business Sociology (UCM) and Economic Policy (URJC).

From a professional point of view, I am a freelance consultant with 20+ years experience in executive positions with a common left motiv: to lead the international expansion of European companies mainly in China / Asia, but also in Latin America, USA and Europe. Since 2012, I support Chinese investments directed to Spanish productive (high-tech) assets and companies.

I have spent over 18 years living outside of Spain --6 years in the US, 6 in China, nearly 4 in France, 2 in Latin America-- and well over 1 year traveling around the world.

Although an aerospace engineer by training and profession, I have postgraduate studies in Business Administration and a PhD in International Economics and Development from the UCM (see below) with a thesis that sheds light on the institutional paradoxes of China's Economic Reforms.

My main areas of interest for research are (i) China's Political Economy and (ii) Economic Development (and more generally, Economic Policy), both approached under the lens of New Institutional Economics in order to embed economic behavior within a broader and deeper web of political, social and cultural factors.
